Preparation prior to self tan application

Prior to the application of any Sun Laboratories self tanning product the skin must be fully exfoliated. Shower using the Exfoliating Body Gel to remove any dead skin cells, avoid shower creams or gels with an oil base as they can leave a film on the skin, which may act as a barrier when applying the fake tan.

There is no need to apply a moisturiser before an application of Sun Laboratories Self Tanning products as all Sun Labs fake tan products contain Aloe Vera.  Applying a moisturiser prior to application may also act as a barrier on the skin surface and will dilute the effects of the active ingredient known as DHA tanning agent. Make sure the skin is completely dry before the application of the self tanning product.

Application of self tanning products

Apply a small amount of fake tan to the sponge (white side) of your Sun Labs Self Tanning Application Mitt; you will need to use the tanning mitt when using Self Tanning lotion, Self Tanning Foam or Express Liquid Tan. Start with the top half of the body and gradually work your way down. Apply the fake tan in smooth circular motions and always use the Self Tan Application Mitt to apply an even, non-streaky fake tan and avoid discolouration to the palms of the hands. Apply to the whole body taking extra care with the knees, elbows, face, hands and feet. Apply the fake tan to the hands last and use whatever residue is left on the mitt to avoid over tanning and to achieve the most natural result.

For best results leave the self tanning product on the skin for a minimum of 8 hours before showering off the residue, if possible leave the self tan on overnight to allow the active ingredient to work with the skin to achieve the most long lasting and natural looking fake tan.

Maintaining a fake tan

Once the initial application of Sun Laboratories self tan has been showered off, maintain by applying Sun Laboratories Tan Moisturiser Maintainer daily to help to prolong the life of the tan and to ensure the fake tan fades evenly.

To achieve a long lasting result use the Tan Moisturiser Maintainer daily and either Self Tanning Lotion, Foam or Express Liquid Tan every 3- 5 days.
